Campaign overview: five models, two designs, four destinations

Krups coffee machines tested — automatic Sensation Milk and manual Precision

Between April and July 2025 we ran six testing campaigns for Krups (Groupe SEB CZ) covering five coffee machine models: three variants of the automatic Sensation Milk and two manual machines with a grinder — Precision XP801T10 and Precision+ XP804T10.

The manual Precision ran in two separate campaigns depending on the destination the reviews were headed to (Datart and Alza). Each campaign offered three to five places, 26 in total. 250 people filled in the questionnaire.

The challenge: shoppers skip an expensive appliance with no reviews

A coffee machine is a purchase people research for weeks. They compare five models on a price comparison site, read the retailer reviews and decide. A new listing without a single rating drops out of that comparison no matter how good it is.

Testing a coffee machine is also not the same as testing a cheap appliance. An automatic machine and a manual machine with a grinder appeal to completely different users — one wants to press a button in the morning, the other wants to play with the grind size. Demand proved it: 89 people applied for the Sensation Milk Pepite, nineteen for the manual Precision+.

The solution: one review, four platforms

For the automatic models we picked testers who mainly want to use the machine; for the manual ones, people who enjoy the brewing process. The reviews reflect that: Sensation Milk reviews revolve around milk foam and cleaning, Precision reviews around grind size and accessories.

We split the manual Precision into two campaigns by target destination so the reviews landed where shoppers actually compare that model. Every approved review was then published on Brand Testing Club, Heureka, idealo and the client destination — one review, four placements. Through Heureka and idealo the reviews also reach the Slovak and Hungarian markets.

Krups campaign funnel: 250 questionnaires, 26 testers, 26 reviews, 104 placements
250 questionnaires produced 26 testers (10.4%), 26 reviews (100% return) and 104 published placements.

Results in numbers

Five models across six campaigns with three to five places each, 250 questionnaires submitted (ten applicants per place), 26 selected testers and 26 reviews from 26 unique testers.

A 100% return rate — every selected tester delivered in all six campaigns. The outcome: 104 published reviews, an average rating of 4.5 out of 5, 96% of testers who would recommend the machine, and 96 tester photos.

What testers criticised: mostly what the machine cannot do

The top complaint was missing functions — 7 out of 26 reviews (27%). Testers missed a separate hot water outlet, frothing milk without coffee, setting volume in millilitres instead of M/L/XL sizes, an auto-off timer, a water line connection, or the knock box that only comes with the higher package. The lowest measured attribute confirms it: range of functions at 4.28 out of 5, while build quality scores 4.87.

Five reviews (19%) had reservations about the milk system — too little foam, milk too hot, manual volume control, more frequent nozzle cleaning. Another five (19%) mentioned tanks and dimensions. Four reviews noted grinder noise, four the plastic parts on the manual models, and four the complexity of the initial setup or a terse manual. Three testers mentioned mess from the grounds, two the price.

Two reviews (8%) stopped at 6 out of 10 — the Sensation Milk EA912HF0 for missing functions and no display, the manual Precision XP801T10 for a complicated setup and a noisy grinder. The lowest average went to the Precision XP801T10 in the Datart campaign: 4.17 out of 5. One of the 26 testers would not recommend the machine.
