A brand without reviews appears in AI responses in only 1% of cases

Customers are turning to AI instead of search engines more than ever. And AI models build their answers based on what real people write about products. A brand without a review profile appears in AI responses in just 1% of cases, while having a profile with 1 to 13 reviews boosts that visibility to 53.5% (Seer Interactive 2026).

Customers are asking AI

According to the Bazaarvoice Shopper Experience Index (2025, 7,000+ respondents across six countries), 24% of shoppers have already used AI instead of a search engine to find products. For the 18–34 age group, that figure jumps to 41%.

Models quote people, not brands

Product descriptions tell you what a product can do. Reviews tell you how it actually performs after three months and whether it's too noisy. When an AI model is asked to recommend something to a real person, it naturally turns to reviews.

In Google AI Overviews, the most cited domains are YouTube (21.1%) and Reddit (18.5%)—in other words, user-generated content (Ahrefs 2026, 3M queries).

The difference between 1% and 53%

Seer Interactive analyzed 804,491 AI responses across 1,926 brands (ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity).

A massive jump of 52 percentage points happens with just a handful of reviews. It's not a race to see who has the absolute most, but whether you exist in the dataset at all. In ChatGPT Shopping mode, top-ranked products have a median of 787 reviews, while those in 4th place and below have 352 (Profound 2026, 812,190 product cards).

What to do right away

Three steps that don't require any new tools or extra budget.

Ask AI yourself

Run ten search queries your typical customer would ask through ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. Note down which brands pop up. It takes twenty minutes and costs nothing.

Fix what's visible on the product page

87.3% of product cards in ChatGPT Shopping come from website crawling, not product feeds (Profound 2026). Whatever you want the model to read must be right there on the web page.

Focus on coverage and recency, not just volume

74% of shoppers compare two or more platforms (BrightLocal 2026)

AI models do the exact same thing.

Our recommendation

AI quotes actual text, not star ratings. That's why at Testuj.to, we collect reviews with a minimum length of 200 characters, pros and cons, and real photos—and distribute them to comparison sites and retailers across 29 countries, right where AI models gather their data.
